As payroll checks are calculated, a check history record is stored permanently in a payroll check history file. The entire system constantly analyzes this check history to produce the reports, etc. This check history file is the only record of the checks. Over the years this file becomes very large and the old information becomes of little or no value and starts to slow processing..
This Remove Old Payroll Checks option will allow you to dump some of that old history.
We would recommend that you make a backup of your payroll data files before you run this program. If the power should fail during this process, you files will be corrupted.
We would recommend that you always leave at least three years of history. By doing so, you could always redo any reports or verify any information for the three year period that the government can audit your records.
As
you dump this history, you will be asked the Oldest Date to Retain. Any payroll
check dated older than the date entered will be removed. Any payroll dated on
that date or after that date will be retained.
