Installation - Programs | ACS Core Help

ACS 5 is installed and updated from a single downloaded setup program, ACS-5-Setup.exe. ACS software is no longer shipped on CDs or diskettes.

New ACS installations are set up with ACS's help, including licensing. Call ACS before installing on a new computer or server, or before moving ACS to a different one.

Running the setup program

  1. Download ACS-5-Setup.exe from the . The same program installs updates, so use it only while you are on ACS support.
  2. Run it on the single-user computer, or on the server if more than one computer uses ACS. You need Windows administrator rights.
  3. Keep the default destination folder, C:\Program Files\ACS 5, unless ACS has told you otherwise. When updating, choose the folder where ACS 5 is already installed.
  4. Leave Create a desktop shortcut checked if you want an ACS 5 icon on the desktop.
  5. Review the summary and click Install. At the end, setup checks and builds ACS's helper tools; this can take a minute or two. Let it finish.
  6. Start ACS from the ACS 5 desktop icon if it does not start by itself.

Notes

Your data is normally kept separately from the program folder, so installing an update does not replace it. It is still a good idea to make a Save As backup before updating.

Computers that use the ACS Client do not need to be updated one by one. See Installation - Workstations.
